(1) Material properties

The moisture content of the material plays a vital role in the crushing effect. The higher the moisture content and fiber content of the material, the greater its toughness, which makes the material very easy to undergo plastic deformation during the crushing process and difficult to crush, resulting in a significant decrease in crushing efficiency, increased energy consumption, and increased production costs. In addition, the higher the moisture content of the material, the greater the humidity during crushing, which makes it very easy for the material to adhere to the surface of the screen during the crushing process, causing the screen holes to be blocked, thereby greatly reducing the screen hole discharge rate, and reducing productivity and output.

(2) Hammer

As one of the important parts of the crusher, the hammer is often damaged by wear and tear. Its size, shape, arrangement and rotation speed will have a certain impact on its crushing efficiency.

(3) Screen

As a device for discharging materials in the crusher, the screen plays a vital role in the crushing performance. According to the installation position of the screen in the crushing chamber, it can be divided into bottom screen, ring screen and side screen. Although the side screen has a long service life, it is not easy to replace the screen. Since the screen surface of the ring screen can occupy an area of ​​more than 3/4 of the circumference of the inner chamber and the screening area is large, the production efficiency can be effectively improved and it is widely used. The screen can not only adjust the degree of material crushing by screening the material, but also rub against the material group to further grind the material. Therefore, the shape, aperture, opening rate and other parameter requirements of the screen will affect the working performance of the crusher.

(4) Shape and width of the crushing chamber

When the crusher is running, the rapid rotation of the hammer rotor drives the material to circulate, generating a material-air circulation layer. Therefore, changing the shape of the crushing chamber cavity is the most direct way to destroy the material-air circulation layer. At present, the shape of the crushing chamber has expanded from circular to teardrop-shaped, elliptical, vortex-shaped, eccentric, etc., which can effectively destroy the material-air circulation layer to a certain extent and improve the working efficiency of the crusher. The width of the crushing chamber cavity directly affects the effective impact of the hammer and the material and the screening rate of the material particles. If the width of the crushing chamber is too small, the effective screening area will be reduced, the screening rate will be reduced, and the productivity will be reduced; if the width of the crushing chamber is too large, the number of effective collisions between the hammer and the material will be reduced, resulting in a decrease in crushing performance. At present, the width of the crushing chamber in the hammer crusher is basically distributed between 50 and 300 mm.

(5) Ventilation volume

Related studies have shown that moderate ventilation volume helps materials pass through the sieve holes, which is beneficial to the increase of electricity output and productivity, and the improvement of crushing performance. However, the ventilation volume of the crusher should not be too large or too fast. Too much material entering the crushing chamber will weaken the crushing effect, and excessive ventilation volume will take away most of the moisture in the material, and it is also easy to cause the motor to overheat; if the ventilation volume is too low, the material-air circulation layer cannot be destroyed.
