Disc Wood Chipper : An Overview

Disc wood chipper is a kind of wood chipper, which is a special equipment for preparing high-quality wood chips. It is widely used in the preparation section of industrial production such as papermaking, particleboard, medium-density fiberboard, and single wood chip production base, and is also suitable for wood chip export bases. It can cut logs, small-diameter wood, yaw wood, and boards into high-quality industrial wood chips with uniform length, smooth cuts, and uniform thickness. And in order to meet the different requirements of papermaking, fiberboard, and particleboard industries for the length of wood chips, the length of wood chips can be adjusted within a certain range.

The disc wood chipper is composed of four parts: the base, main machine, coupling, and chassis (excluding the motor). The main machine consists of a knife disc, upper and lower covers, a feeding port, and a discharging port. The knife disc is the most worn part of the entire disc chipper. In order to make the chipper strong and wear-resistant, the knife disc is chrome-plated with wear-resistant pads, and the flying knife, bottom knife, and flying knife spiral are made of special steel, which increases the service life of the equipment.

The wood is fed in from the feed port. When the wood contacts the cutting blade, it is cut with the high-speed rotation of the cutting disc. The cutting mechanism is a rotating drum with several flying knives installed on it. The flying knives process the wood into wood chips when they rotate. There are multiple square through holes on the outer edge of the drum. The qualified chips cut down fall through the mesh holes and are discharged from the bottom. The large chips will be cut again in the machine.

According to the use method:

there are two major categories: fixed and mobile. Fixed types are mostly used in factories; mobile types are generally used in forest areas and mountain fields. Mobile disc chippers can be installed on carts or agricultural vehicles, and can use electric motors, diesel engines or gasoline engines as power. They can be moved and crushed, and the mobile type adds movable bottom wheels on the basis of the design structure of the disc chipper, which is more convenient for users to move and carry.

Biomass fuel plant

Disc chippers are used to process a large amount of logs and small-diameter wood, as well as other agricultural and forestry wastes, crop straw and other raw materials, and convert them into wood chips that can be used for further processing. After crushing, they can be used to produce biomass pellet fuel.

Paper mill

Disc chippers are widely used in paper mills, mainly for the production of wood chips, wood chips and other raw materials, which are an important basis for making paper.
